John & Ruthie Weed
John & Ruthie Weed serve in Almaty, Kazakhstan, and have two
children: Daniel (15) and Joshua (9).They have been there for 18
years, after having served in the Ivory Coast for 5 years, and
before that in Egypt for 3 years.
Currently, they are are on a medical furlough and plan to return
to Kazakhstan in August of this year pending John's medical
clearance in May, his second 6 month check-up
since having cancer surgery in March of 2010. He is presently
cancer free, praise the Lord! Their next furlough will be in
2014.
The Weeds' Mission is to reach the unreached Muslims of Central
Asia (EurAsia) with the Gospel and plant healthy, thriving Churches
among them. This would be among Kazakhs,
Uighurs and Tatars. Since they arrived in 1991, they have seen the
Lord bless with 70 church plants or or Mission Churches in 5
countries: Kazakhstan, Kyrgistan, Tajikistan,
China and Russia.
God continues to bless their work. The main mark of progress is to
see their national leaders rise up and begin to lead in our
absence, and many of our earlier planted churches have become self
supporting. Also there were over 500 decisions made for the Lord in
2010, and most of those were among Muslim background people. God is
good! Two new churches were planted, and it was an excellent year
for our Bible School, with over 100 leaders trained.
We plan to see two more Churches planted and are praying for 750
decisions among the Muslims of Central Asia by the end of the
year.
